Omar Sheira

Training Manager

Omar Sheira is a Training Manager at Luiss Mediterranean Platform. He coordinates the activities of the Mentorship Programme, which produces policy research on pressing issues in Libya. Omar designs and delivers a training program that aims to develop the fundamental research skills of aspiring policy analysts. The program covers several key areas such as critical thinking, structured thinking, analytical reading and writing, and policy analysis. In addition, Omar guides the junior policy analysts through their policy research journey, from inception to publication.

Omar has previously worked at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, where he first began developing the trainings of the Mentorship Programme. Prior to that, he worked at Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies in Cairo on studying the push and pull factors of radicalization in Egypt. His research interests focus on the political developments in Egypt and the Middle East region, with a specific focus on state-building.

Omar holds a BA in Political Science from Truman State University and an LL.M. in International Law from Tilburg University.
