Francesco Chiavon

Project Coordinator

Francesco Chiavon is Project Coordinator at the LUISS Mediterranean Platform, where he supports the implementation of projects focused on the wider Mediterranean and Red Sea regions. In this role, he also leads fundraising efforts and oversees the development of project proposals.

A dedicated humanitarian and legal expert, Francesco brings over five years of experience working with the United Nations and international organizations in post-conflict and humanitarian settings. His expertise lies in governance, legal reform, human rights, and international humanitarian law, with a proven track record of advancing justice initiatives and driving meaningful change in fragile contexts.

Francesco holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Trento, where his thesis explored the protection of medical personnel in armed conflicts. His professional experience spans diverse roles, from managing multi-million-dollar projects with UNODC in Somalia to leading anti-corruption initiatives with UNDP in Kosovo.

In addition to his fieldwork, Francesco is a published author, having contributed a chapter on Central Asian institutions and politics for Springer Nature in 2020. His enduring commitment to humanitarian principles and legal justice continues to shape his impactful contributions to international development and conflict resolution.
