In an interview with Euractiv on 17/04/2014, our director, Prof. Luigi Narbone, provided insights into the ongoing debate on the possible deployment of an Italian peacekeeping mission in Gaza.

Prof. Narbone emphasized that while this possibility has been extensively discussed in post-war debate’s concerning the two-state solution, it remains a distant possibility as several crucial political prerequisites must be fulfilled before such a proposition could materialize.

He stressed that the current focus should be on preventing a further escalation of the conflict. In this regard, the International Community should support the negotiations in Cairo aimed at securing a ceasefire in Gaza and proactively advocate for the safe release of hostages.
