Mediterranean Talks: In Conversation with Ambassador Alessandro Minuto-Rizzo

Luiss University, 05/05/2025

Luiss University, Via Parenzo, Aula Nocco
5 May 2025, 17:00 – 19:00 CET

This event will explore how NATO’s role in the broader Mediterranean is evolving in response to shifting regional and global dynamics. It will reflect on how the Alliance is adapting its goals and strategy amid internal developments such as ongoing political changes within its member states and external challenges, including the war in Ukraine.

The conversation will take a broader view of the Mediterranean space, extending to areas like the Red Sea, to examine the growing presence of global powers like China, the rising influence of middle powers, and the role of non-state actors in shaping regional security and economic trends.

The discussion will consider how NATO is responding to this increasingly complex and competitive environment. What are the implications for the Alliance’s future relevance in the Mediterranean region? how is it engaging with new actors?
