On 23 May 2025, French newspaper Libération featured insights from Prof. Virginie Collombier, Scientific Coordinator at the Luiss Mediterranean Platform, on the recent escalation in Tripoli.

Prof. Collombier explained that the elimination of a key militia leader created a power vacuum that triggered violent competition among armed groups. She stressed that the crisis cannot be solved by simply replacing governments or reshuffling security forces, and called for a stronger international response amid the absence of a clear UN roadmap.
